WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF FOUNDATIONS AVAILABLE IN STORES?
In this blog I will discuss few of the many different types of foundations that are available in stores from different brands. My blog on “How to pick the right foundation for your skin” which I posted a while ago was quite appreciated by all of you. Many thanks to my Instagram and Twitter followers for such spectacular response.
This blog is kind of a continuation of the earlier one but it focuses more on the skin types and textures you desire. I briefly discussed in the earlier blog that there are most commonly three types of skins one may naturally possess, that are, dry, oily and combination. Depending upon these factors all good make-up brands offer different types of foundations like powder foundation, liquid foundation, cream foundation and mousse.
Powder foundations give a light coverage and are best for school / college going teen-aged girls who do not require very heavy make-up and can carry it in their bags for little touch up whenever they need. It is not very ideal for skins that are too dry or too oily or patchy and pigmented as it only gives a light coverage. This is why it is often applied over a liquid foundation.
Liquid foundations give medium coverage and are good for combination skin which are moderately dry or oily. If you apply it on a dry skin you might need to use some moisturizer first so that it does not absorb immediately and spreads well over your skin and blends in properly. Liquid foundations also come with matte control properties which is suitable for oily skin. Matte control, mattifying, shine control are the few keywords mentioned on the product which can help users buy right foundation for their oily skin.
Cream foundations give a heavy coverage and are most suitable for dry skin types. They possess moisturizing properties and are usually marked with keywords like skin nourishing, skin replenishing, moisturizing etc.
Mousses are ideal for oily to combination skin. They give medium coverage and blend easily into the skin due to their smooth texture.
You can always experiment and find out which one of the above types of foundations gives you your desired look on different occasions keeping in mind your actual skin type. Hope you will find this information interesting and useful. Do share it with friends and leave your comments for feedback. Thank you and take very good care of yourselves!
